Our last blog entry held a great focus on the cause for One Great Night on Earth. We felt it was important to give you all a stronger understanding of our efforts in the development of staging what will truly be an amazing event.
One Great Night on Earth began its journey as a result of the Black Saturday bush fires in regional Victoria in February, 2009. Post those events, we realised that there was a definite need to create initiatives to raise funds for people who suffered via this sort of tragedy right here in Australia. Here we are in a brand new year and that much closer to the big event. Little did we know that during this time, our great land would suffer another tragedy in the form of such major flooding, that has affected so many and had us all wondering what can we do to help?
Mother Nature sure has been a vicious gal over the last couple of years and the events of the last couple of weeks make it even clearer to us that our project will make a difference and assist many people when our country next encounters such a crisis. We only wish we could do something sooner.
As I write this entry, Fine Green Paddock is seeking out the best possible patron for the foundation and board members we will rely upon to distribute funds we raise during these times of need. It’s a process we do not take lightly. A high percentage of newly formed charities and foundations in Australia cease to exist after their first 6 months due to poor research and a lack of support. We wish to create a foundation that will stand the test of time and not only distribute funds raised by the event, but also any other funds raised via independent initiatives and donations.
We are getting there and the ultimate foundation and its board will be something we can all be proud of.
The event moves forward every day. We are currently in negotiation with a number of U.S. and U.K. based artists as a result of the recent booking tour in 2010. Interest in our project grows every day and you won’t be disappointed when you finally hear the offering.
In summary, hang in there people. We appreciate your support as Earthlings more than you will ever know. We also wish to thank our facebook friends, an army which is growing by the day.
